Customer Reviews:

Nice receiver, but requires proprietary connector for Bluetooth (24 August 2010)
I'm quite happy with this receiver except for one glaring complaint: Yamaha requires you to purchase a proprietary cable to connect a Bluetooth device.

The manual states "the cable is required [when pairing] for security purposes" (paraphrased). Please. What it really means to say is "the cable is required so we can collect a few bucks when you want to play music from your Droid/iPhone through our receiver". The entire point of Bluetooth is to connect devices together WIRELESSLY and WITHOUT HASSLE. Yamaha has succeeded in obliterating the convenience of Bluetooth in the name of greed. All Bluetooth components are "coded", so "security" has already been achieved through the pairing process.

Yamaha, if you're just trying to make a quick $20, just say so... don't insult your customers' intelligence. I have Bluetooth in my car, all over my home, and at work... at no point have I ever needed additional accessories to ensure "security". Give me a break.

Great Receiver; Even Better Buy with bundle (06 August 2010)
I've been looking to buy a receiver and overall great surround sound for my home theater and I've personally been eyeing this Yamaha RXV665 receiver for a while now. Not only did i come across a deal on the receiver itself, but included was a deal as a whole bundle, which would complete my home theater stereo setup which included two Energy CF-30 Floorstanding/Tower Speakers, a CC-5 Center Channel Speaker, a pair of CR-10 Surround Speakers, a ESW-C8 8-Inch 240 Watt Subwoofer, and a Yamaha YDS-11SL iPod Dock, all to go along with the Yamaha RXV-665 receiver that would start me off on my home entertainment center. I ended up spending around $1,370 as a whole after shipping; given that the bundle as a whole weighs about 120 lbs. The receiver included in the bundle turned out to be a great investment for me and the rest of my family, as we enjoy everything that every piece had to offer in its excellence.

Low Price for a Best Quality. (20 July 2010)
Because of the low price, I did not think much quality in the product as I am seeing. This is a high quality product, at least in my house I have gotten great results, and with 17 dsp programs to get better audio experience.

  yamaha review (15 July 2010)
Great system only one thing, not hard to opperate but not easy either... other than that buy it its great!! One more thing the controller is a little ugly too not very attractive

Inexpensive, pre outs, works as I wanted it too. (01 July 2010)
I purchased this receiver for the pre-outs, HDMI switching and the relatively cheap price, I think I paid $289. It works even better than I had hoped as far as passing the HDMI signal straihgt to the TV speakers when the receiver is not turned on, a feature that works great if you have someone who also uses the TV, video, Wii etc and don't ever learn how to make things work. In this case, my wife did not even know we had a receiver. I have not used the amplifier in this receiver, just a old 5 channel amp connected to the pre-outs. It has surpassed my expectations.
