| | Customer Reviews: Sandisk 16 GB Flash (28 July 2010)I read many of the reviews here about this flash card memory and decided to spend $35. I was ready to do away with the u-3 software when I received it. It was delivered yesterday and I tried it out and found there was no u-3 software to worry about. Nothing there. I don't know if this is their latest version and maybe because of all the complaints about the u-3, Sandisk just took it out. The only problem I am having is that the only icon that shows up on my screen when I plug the flash into the usb port is one that allows you to diconnect safely. There are no other icons that tell you that it is installed. I have to go to the search function on the computer, files and folders section to engage it. Once that is done it works perfectly and the download speed is really, really fast. Good bang for the buck. great for storing files. Split ring deformed, cannot keep on keychain (27 July 2010)The SanDisk Cruzer Micro comes with a tiny split ring that you can use to attach it to your keyring. It is a fairly flimsy split ring, and by the end of a month on my keychain, the split ring had lost its form and the Cruzer would no longer stay on the keychain. I almost lost the unit on a few occasions because of this. I bought this as a keychain accessory, so I was disappointed that it failed in that capacity because of a tiny piece that surely costs the manufacturer nearly nothing. I contacted SanDisk support hoping to get a new split ring, but they were unwilling or unable to help me. The rep suggested that I search online retailers for my "accessory". An absurd suggestion. Split rings can't really be found for retail purchase anywhere but hardware stores, and only keychain sizes. The Cruzer requires a much smaller ring. I have an additional complaint: one USB port I tried to use the drive with was rather stiff, and it was impossible to insert the USB dongle without it retracting. It doesn't properly lock in place. I'm not happy with the unit and am looking into replacing it. Good Deal for the money (26 July 2010)It's small and easily fits my PC tool case. Capacity allows me to carry more s/w tools for remote repair jobs that are without net access due to system faults caused by s/w - h/w issues. Great value if you can live with slower transfer rates (26 July 2010)The product is great for anyone needing the space, however, don't rely on it if you need fast transfer rates. If it were not as slow as it is, I would have given it 5 stars. |
