(07 September 2010)I was skeptical on this purchase since a couple of years ago I had tried a much larger similar antenna like this one in my attic with no success. I mounted this RCA antenna outside my home on an existing 6' 4x4 fence post that is near the external TV cable box. I accessed the inside of the 'customer access' cable box and connected this antenna and it now feeds all of my TV's in the house. This antenna works like a charm. I receive all of my local TV channels in HD, for free! I was using the old rabbit ear antennas for TV's but always had to be adjusting them and would only get 3 channels at a time. With this antenna I no longer have to adjust anything. Now I can see 27 channels. Make sure you connect the RG cable and the frame of this antenna mount to an electrical ground (lightning). If you had satellite service like I did, the RG cable and the ground wire are already there and you can re-use these. Also, remember to buy surge protectors for the RG cable before it connects to your TV. In case lighting were to zap the antenna - the surge protector will take the hit and not your nice LCD TV. I highly recommend this antenna. My next step is subscribe to Netflix for streaming movies. This is a much less expensive setup than paying the cable company. Thanks Amazon and RCA! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Very impressive (31 August 2010)I have been using OTA reception for several years but the DTV conversion required me to use an outside antenna. After some trial and error, the Channel Master 3010 did a good job but I was disappointed in the reception with some channels. Also, the weak signal would sometimes fade and the channel would be totally lost even after re-scanning. I checked the signal strength on the channels I watch most frequently before making the switch. Most channels were 100% but the channels that fade were at 40 - 50%. After installing the RCA ANT751 I scanned the channels again. Much to my surprise the weak channels are now in the 70 - 80 range with little or no loss in signal strength on the more powerful channels. My only complaint is the assembly documentation which required a little head scratching and a magnifying glass to make out some diagram details. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Great value for money! (26 August 2010)Although this is not advertised as an HD antenna, all the HD channels come in great. I have the antenna placed in the attic and pointed genereally in the direction indicated by antennaweb site. As per the website the most of the stations are in the 38 - 41 mile range. Reception is great on the UHF and VFH channels. Visitiors to the house have commented on how wonderful the picture looks. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Best HDTV antenna (25 August 2010)I'm in the Sacramento area and was able to receive 20 channels. I'm even receiving a signal from the SF Bay Area and Chico. This RCA ANT751 antenna does not need any adapter to amplify the signal, which is great(no wasted energy). I'm also using our existing splitter and getting excellent reception even with 3-4 HDTV units running at the same time. It took me about 15 minutes to assemble the antenna and another 20 minutes to install in our 2nd story attic. I received my shipment in excellent condition. I highly recommend this RCA antenna and it's Made in the USA. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Great television reception.. (22 August 2010)I live approximately 25 miles from Birmingham , Alabama. All major channels(Fox,ABC,CBS,NBC) and all local independent channels come in crystal clear. Any non technical person can install this antenna as easy to follow instructions are provided. If you can live without cable/satellite tv and want to save approximately $1000 per year in viewing costs, this is the way to go. |
