Some others have mentioned that you need to use good quality batteries. I'll second (or third?) that. It'll eat though cheap batteries. I've given though about making an adapter to allow it to use AA or even C cells. That'll allow for longer use in the field. As for its distance, you can easily see the point on a wall 800 yards away. I have shot it at a license plate of a parked car 1200 yards away and it lighted it right up. For pointing at stars, it works like a champ. Very clear. That said, it will cause serious eye damage. Be very careful when pointing it indoors. The reflection off of a window can be a real shock. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() neat kaleidoscopic pattern (02 September 2010)I received my laser pointer yesterday and it is pretty amazing. I had bought a 5mw green laser pointer from ebay and when compared side by side with this one, I cannot tell any difference in brightness, even though this one says it is 30 mw. Not that really matters to me because it is plenty bright. But where this one shines is when you put on the adapter to produce the continuously adjustable special effects filter. It is really great on a wall, but I tried it after dark outside on a tree and the effect is beyond strange. Any portion of the beam which does not contact the tree is invisible, so only the tree is bathed in this eerie, crawling green light like out of some science fiction movie. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() not bad at all (24 August 2010)The star attachment thingy was useless but the laser itself was above my expectations. very nice. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Great handheld laser star projector (19 August 2010)I purchased this for my paranormal group for spotting shadow people during investigations, I am new to this so I gave this a try and was not disapointed. it is only 30mw so battery life should be great, I will be trying this out more on big investigation next month, I'm sure it will do great ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() poor quality (06 August 2010)Nifty toy. Great for stargazing. kalaidoscopic lens a lot of fun. Lasted for 5 uses. Nuff said. |
