  Good navigation Under 250$$ (25 July 2010)
I have only used the GPS one time however I
did notice that the software update for the maps
and live traffic updates ( monthly fee) really
make a difference between this Garmin model
and the $80 model.. I would recommend this
GPS for the basic user who does the occasional
long trip and city driving to Work/ School..

  Garmin Nuvi (23 July 2010)
This is my third Garmin GPS. I started out with the Street Pilot C-330 then the Street Pilot C-550. This is by far the best unit I have ever used. The color is crisp and clear and the Bluetooth feature is superb.

Works great. Does not have features in Canada that are available in the US. As soon as I cross the border I lose traffic info and speed limits.
Did not come with a case and the battery life could certainly be much improved.
Otherwise very happy and the unit. Works great and hasn't failed to get us to destination with one exception; took us to the inaccessible back of a park instead of to an entrance.

Beware - MSN Direct will no longer be available in 2012 and later (14 July 2010)
I was about to buy this GPS based on the reviews I had read here and on other websites. I decided to go to MSN website to learn the functionality of MSN Direct (which provides this device with several options). Much to my surprise, the MSN site [...] indicates that the service will be available through the end of 2011.

This Garmin Gets a Thumbs Down From Me Right Now and Zero Stars! (07 July 2010)
Garmin nüvi 780 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator with MSN Direct Service

I bought this Garmin 780 to provide directions for me and my family during our trip this past July 4, 2010 weekend. Well, let me tell you that the product really does not work (or this one I have is defective).

First, after doing the various requested downloads and registering, there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING within this GARMIN that allows me to simply enter my address and the destination and go from there.

Second, when I was able to wirelessly send directions via the MSN Direct (that's free for three months) they did come through but were horrible. As I drove yesterday evening to a CPR class, this Garmin was telling me to get off at exits that weren't even there and kept having to search for new routes in the process.

Third, I could have gotten a ticket the way this thing had me zigzagging due across the road due to its inability to give me proper directions.

Fourth, when I was home, I programmed home into the GARMIN and when I tried to use it from a location away from home (in another city) it literally went hay-wire.

Fifth, when you look at the instructions, you see items that are available that I cannot select...the system says "It's not available" when I try to access it.

Sixth, I had to download countless times in order for the down load to take and I'm talking I was in a very good reception area too.

Seventh, this thing did not tell me directional turns, like left and right. It'll just say to take a certain exit and won't even elaborate on whether it's left of right...you just better be able to drive looking ahead and look at the GARMIN so you will know which direction you are to go in and pray you don't crash.

If I could rate this product lower than a 1-star right now I would. This is not a good impression for a first time buyer. We used this GARMIN last Friday to get to a location of our time share which we have never been and instead of the normal 1 hour and 20 minutes, it took us 3 hours to find it. We ended up having a state trooper out in Lancaster PA assist us in the right direction.

So far the best GPS I have ever used was through my Verizon cell phone (which I no longer have). It gave me turn by turn and would tell me whether to turn left or right, not just tell me to take a certain exit without telling me whether I am to drive North or South.

I plan to send this complaint onto the GARMIN Company. Everyone I know says GARMIN'S are the best but that seriously is not my experience.
