| | Customer Reviews: Garmin friction mount, way better than bean bag (04 September 2010)My in-laws purchased a bean bag mount for my wife last christmas. I have a Nuvi 755 I use in my work truck. I was using the suction cup mount , but did not like it. After the first hard turn, my wife's bean bag and new GPS slid off the dash of our caravan. we put one of those sticky pads you can buy uner it, but it still slides off occasionally. It will not stay put. I decided I would purchase the friction mount adn give it a try. I have used it in all three of our vehicles. 95 dodge ram, 02 dodge caraqvn, and 09 dodge ram 5500. It has not moved! I love it. I will be purchasing one for my wife for her birthday. Returned it. Bought beanbag one instead. (28 August 2010)This item was not as flexible as advertised. Returned for the Bean bag version. It worked much better on my dash and it could be easily moved around the dashboard. Works great (16 August 2010)Previously we had a window suction mount for our GPS. I always had to un-stick it to take down and reprogram. When parking we would also un-stick it to put under the dash out of sight. On a long trip, this was a lot of trouble. Now with this new mount, you just pick it up, move where you need it and put back down. No sticking, no smudgy windows, etc. And it really stays put - no moving around at all. Would recommend to anyone. garmin friction mount (15 August 2010)I purchased this for nuvi 755t. I have been very pleased with it for the month that I have used it. I seems to stay secure on my dash (Chevy PU). I drive a lot on country roads and have had no problems. I had previously use the bean bag type, of which I also have been very pleased. A big plus for the new friction mount is the way it the arm folds down for transporting in a suitcase. Works Like a Charm (09 August 2010)Yep, it's a bit expensive, but it's worth every penny. I drive for a living and needed something that would work in a variety of vehicles, and I haven't found anything yet that this won't work in (limousines, vans, sedans, minibuses etc.) . That nice bendy, but still firm material the base is made out of is PERFECT for it's purpose. It's easily bendable by will hold any shape I need it to, and it's nicely sticky on the bottom too. It WILL stay in place where ever I put it. I also love that it folds flat (in one piece) to fit in my daily work bag. Simple, elegant, and perfect for it's intended purpose. Garmin gets an A+ for this! |
