It was good in its day that is true. It was impossible for me to work with. Dell has no support available at all, "shame on them" if you ask me. You can't know how bad it is tell you have one. To those that have hopes of help on the after market...those hopes are unrealistic and nonexistent dreams from what I saw in the days I spent hoping to get this used but in good shape X51v to work for me. If your not an expert with these PDAs, like I am, don't think of spending much money on getting one of these at any price. If you can use the parts to build something else out of, it would be a good buy. It is just a bad idea in 2010 to buy this piece of equipment for anything more than a museum display. Education can be expensive and I learned on buying this one.....take it from me for free....Dell Axim X51v PDA 624 MHz Processor, 256MB ROM / 64MB SDRAM, 3.7 inches 480*640 VGA TFT Color LCD, BlueTooth / WiFi 802.11b/Infrared ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Kind of a fossil, but I still use it (16 December 2009)I've had this for a few years now, and I still use it for typing on the go (with a wireless blutooth keyboard). Plays games and has wifi. Too bad the lame I-suck products made these obsolete. The price amazon has these at still is INSANE though, especially given the advent of smart phones for cheap. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Dont do it! (24 November 2009)I have wanted to smash this with a hammer many times. I've done many of the fixes from various websites and had some lessening of frustration, but what remains is still great. Hang & crash ALL THE TIME! 2 or 3 times per day! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Excellent (08 August 2009)This unit was exactly as advertised, "like new". They delivered it promptly. The price was excellent. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Great for portable entertainment and use as a GPS (13 July 2009)I've been using this PDA for over a year, and have come to depend upon it for use as a GPS, watching TV via Sling Media Slingbox SOLO (SB260-100), and relaxing to recorded music and movies while traveling. The program Google Navigator at PDAfun.net, the large touch screen on the Dell PDA, and the Bluetooth G.Top G33 GPS receiver all work together so well, that they combine to make the best GPS I have owned. The Dell wi-fi and Slingbox combination make for a nice portable TV inside and outside the house. Add wired SONY MDR-E10LP Lightweight Earbuds (GRAY) (Dell's bluetooth does not support bluetooth earphones), and you can listen to high quality music riped from DVDs. And if you own a TiVo TCD652160 HD Digital Video Recorder, you can transfer video files to your computer, convert them to wma files with 3d party software, and watch them on the Dell while traveling. Or if your hotel has wi-fi, you can also watch your home cable box or TiVo through the Slingbox. Add the program Skype, and you can use the Dell PDA as a telephone via wi-fi and the internet. Of course you can also do all the normal things you'd expect a PDA to do, like receive email and explore the web, and read other files, but I found these other functions to be really handy...in one small package. I have tried using a windows Smart Phone/PDA to do these other functions, but it was not nearly as user friendly, well built, and as reliable as this Dell PDA. I really don't understand why Dell stopped making the Axim X51v, because I consider it to be the best. |
